Project activities

Various projects will take place in the Museum of the Estense Castle in Ferrara, The Art Museum of Ravenna, the Museum of the Great Rivers of Rovigo, The Provincial Museum of Torcello, the Provincial museum of Gorizia, the City Museums and Art Historical Galleries of Udine, the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana, the Maritime Museum of Piran and its dislocated unit - the Museum of Salt-making in the Sečovlje Salt Flats Regional Park, The Regional Museum of Koper, The Aquileia Foundation and The Kobarid Museum.

 

OpenMuseums plans the realization of the following projects:

WORK PACKAGE 1 – PROJECT COORDINATION AND MANAGEMENT

WORK PACKAGE 2 – DETERMINATION OF COMMON METHODOLOGIES

Determination of common methodologies with the creation of technical and scientific teams for each area.

WORK PACKAGE 3 – ORGANIZATION OF EXHIBITION AREAS

Preparation of exhibition areas for the setup of new collections, the restoration and/or the completion of existing exhibition routes with innovative methods and new technologies, and the presentation on the basis of common standards.

The 11 pilot projects in all partner museums include:

1. The Museum of the Estense Castle of Ferrara: introducing innovative solutions to take advantage of its open spaces (sliding roof of the castle).

2. The Art Museum of Ravenna: reopening the ancient collection and exhibits routes for visitors.

3. The Museum of the Great Rivers of Rovigo: creation of exhibition routes dedicated to the Renaissance, with new sections to present the history of the province Polesine.

4. The Provincial Museum of Torcello in Venice: creation of new virtual / interactive ways for the presentation of the museum collections and the natural environment of the lagoon.

5. The Provincial museum of Gorizia: renovation of the Museum of Fashion and Applied Arts

6. City Museums of Udine: restoration of the Archaeological Museum and the Museum of the Risorgimento

7. The Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana: cataloguing, digitization of materials and restoration of museum exhibition routes through new, innovative technology and multimedia elements.

8. Maritime Museum of Piran: update the museum’s exhibition route and promote the didactics, furnishing two buildings and creation of an educational center in the Museum of Salt-making in an abandoned part of the Sečovlje pans.

WORK PACKAGE 4 – MUSEUM DIDACTICS

Museum didactics with arranged pedagogical workshops

WORK PACKAGE 5 – NETWORK AND KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE

Network and knowledge exchange: creation of a museum network through student exchange / travel, creation of multimedia corners in every museum, creation of web sites and multimedia tools.

WORK PACKAGE 6 – PROMOTION AND MARKETING

Promotion and marketing: creation of promotional material, creation and promotion of touristic packages, creation of a plan for media buying, organization of local press conferences, organization of entertainment events.

WORK PACKAGE 7 – PREPARATION ACTIVITIES

WORK PACKAGE 8 – COMMUNICATION PLAN

Communication plan: establishment of the project's press representatives, responsible for the coordination and the understanding of all the related initiatives.
